AREA ATTRACTIONS

Abacos' Loyalist Villages
The fistful of bicentenary Loyalist villages on Elbow, Man O' War, and Green Turtle cays exude irresistable charm. Splendidly preserved, gaily decorated clapboard houses have been pickled in aspic, and the Loyalists' descendants have managed to retain some of their old ways, adding a living-museum quality.

Abaco National Park
Few spots are as dramatic and serene as the lonesome headland at Hole-in-the-Wall, highlight of this forested park-a last refuge for the Bahama parrot. The hiking is splendid. It's a true escapists' dream for those who don't mind rustic accommodations

Beaches
Hundreds and hundreds of them! Rent a windsurfer at one of the resorts or swap stories at a surfside bar. If solitude is what you want, make the first footprints in the sand of a deserted cay.

Diving & Snorkeling
If you're not a snorkeler already, one look at these waters will convince you to try. Clear water and abundant marine life extend throughout our entire cruising area, and several spots are famous for their diving. Experienced divers can get gear rentals, air fills and guided trips from dive shops in Marsh Harbour and Treasure Cay. Some of the more unusual tours include dives on Civil War era shipwrecks, and The Catacombs, a fantastic network of underwater caves.

Golf and Tennis
If you'd like to spend some time ashore, try the 18-hole golf course or the tennis courts at Treasure Cay. Tennis courts are also available at Green Turtle Cay.

Journeying by Mail Boat
You may choose only to do it once, or it may become the only way you travel between the islands, but a journey by mail boat is one to remember forever. Far from cushy, this is down-to-earth travel guaranteed to show you a side of life far from the tourist mainstream, and it's sure to bond you to the Bahamian people.

Sport Fishing
When it comes to fishing, it's definitely "better in the Bahamas." You can usually count on action to spare for all types of angling. Guides and charter boats are available for deep trolling, reef fishing, bonefishing and more. You don't really need anything fancy to catch your own dinner around here though. Just dangling a handline over the side of the dinghy, or diving for conch can be highly productive sports in these waters.
