A beautiful granite building set against the mountains features
art and naturalist exhibits, courtyards with sculptures and fountains,
and a small intimate theater for ballet, drama and musical performances.
PALM SPRINGS POWER STADIUM
The famous California Angels hold their spring training and practice
here. The World Champion Los Angeles Lakers also train here
in the Valley.
SHOPPING
Palm Canyon Drive is lined with exclusive boutiques and department
stores with the latest in designer fashions. Some of the finest
specialty shops, craft shops and art galleries are located here and don’t forget about the Desert Hills Premium Outlets located 20 minutes outside of Palm Springs.
DINING AND NIGHTLIFE
There are many fine restaurants lining Palm Canyon Drive.
Mexican cuisine is a favorite in town, but there are many restaurants
which cater to other tastes. Palm Springs offers many night
clubs, ranging from piano bar to disco to big band. Theater
restaurants are also available and often offer cultural events
such as concerts and opera.
KNOTT'S SOAK CITY
Fun for the entire family includes beaches for sunbathing, several
water slides, a playground for the children and a wave pool for
surfing.
THE McCALLUM ADOBE
Built in 1885 from native soil, this was the home of the first
white settlers, the John Guthrie McCallum family. Located
at 221 S. Palm Canyon Drive, on the Village Green adjacent to
The Vineyard next to the Cornelia White House. Contains
the major portion of the collection of the Palm Springs Historical
Society, including much personal memorabilia of Pearl McCallum
McManus. Open Sun.-Wed. 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., Thurs.-Sat. 10
a.m. to 4 p.m. Closed June through mid-Oct. Minimal
