Area Attractions & Activities

Seaside is a beautiful, clean, safe, rejuvenated city.  Broadway, the tree-lined main street in the center of town, runs from Highway 101 to the Turnaround at the ocean. The famous "Promenade" runs the full length of Seaside on the ocean. Broadway and adjacent side streets are filled with gift shops, candy stores, boutiques, bakeries and fast food. Seaside is a "walking town," if one wishes to enjoy it fully.  It has all of the amenities of a much larger city, including ample parking space.

The Convention Center is ideal for large meetings and conventions and is located near the Necanicum River which runs through the city.

The Prom is ideal for early morning jogging, bicycling, skating or a leisurely stroll along the oceanfront enjoying the beauty of the Pacific Ocean, the clean sandy beach, sunshine and glorious sunsets.

Standing sentinel over all of Seaside on Broadway at the Turnaround and the Prom is the beautiful, large, full-service hotel, Shilo Oceanfront Resort - Seaside. Also, within walking distance of the ocean is another Shilo Inn - Seaside East, which offers many of the same Shilo amenities and very affordable rates.

It takes a sharp eye and patience to see the twice-yearly migration of gray whales traveling between Alaska and Baja California along the Oregon Coast. But it’s well worth it. Among the best places to see the whales pass is Neahkahnie Mountain Wayside, on Highway 101 near Arch Cape, or try Ecola State Park near Cannon Beach. Volunteers are stationed at popular areas to provide information and spotting tips. The best times to see the whales are in the late fall and early spring, particularly in December and March.
