Mount St. Helens 

Woodland is the "Southern Gateway to Mount St. Helens," National Volcanic Monument which is approximately 45 minutes from town.  It offers climbing, hiking trails, backpacking, and great life long photo opportunities. 

Hulda Klager Lilac Garden

Woodland is home of the famous Hulda Klager Lilac Garden and the annual celebration of The Lilac Festival. From the last week of April through the first week of May, the Klager Museum is open for public access. 

 Cedar Creek Grist Mill

The total distance is only about nine miles. Signs point the way for you and it is a pleasant drive. There is a tree farm where several acres of fir seedlings start their life and depending on the time of the year, you may find roadside stands selling strawberries, corn, pumpkins or even Christmas trees.

 Fishing

The Lewis River runs through town and offers a variety of fishing habitats. Chinook Salmon are the largest fish caught from the Lewis River. Every year Chinook over 30 pounds are caught.  Also large runs of Coho Salmon enter the river in September, October and into November.

Horseback Riding

Kalama horse camp is approximately 9 miles from Woodland, it has no reservations, it is on a first come basis. The camp is set up to handle approximately 100 horses, with 2, 4, and 6 horse corals and some highline areas. This is one of many sites for horse lovers around the immediate area.

The Falls

If you would like to go for a day trip that you will never forget, try this one. From Woodland, drive east on 503. You will pass by the three dams on the North Fork Lewis River. First is Merwin. There is a nice park here if you want to take a little rest stop and view Lake Merwin. Driving on up the highway you will have access to beautiful view points suitable for taking pictures or just looking out at the amazing scenery.

Ape Caves

Approximately one hour from town the Ape Cave lava tube, which formed in one of these basalt flows ... (Cave Basalt flows about 2,000 years ago) ... is the longest lava tube (12,810 feet or 3.9 kilometers) in the conterminous United States (similar tubes are found in Oregon, California, and Idaho) and one of the longest in the world.

Camping

Whether you prefer to camp in an improved campground or just out in the wilds of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, you'll find just what you are looking for right here in the Lewis River area. Camp sites range from: Paradise Point State Park on I-5, RV parks in the Woodland area, PacifiCorp campgrounds, with all the amenities, situated beside the three large reservoirs, and improved and unimproved sites in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.

Motorcycles

With the beautiful scenery around the Woodland area and miles of road to travel this has attracted numerous motorcyclist from around the state. The biggest group being the Gold Wings enthusiast came to Woodland last year and has already made reservations to visit early summer. Horseshoe Lake

Horseshoe Lake is located on the Cowlitz-Clark County line, in the City of Woodland. This 85 acre lake has a maximum depth of 16 feet and a mean depth of 6 feet. There are three miles of shoreline including Horseshoe Lake Park.

Golfing

Golfing at Woodland is a pleasurable experience from the nice country drive out to the time you leave the course several hours later.  Woodland provides an enjoyable golfing experience along with a comfortable facility to meet your golfing needs.
