OREGON COAST AQUARIUM
Two-and-a-half acres of outdoor exhibits, including the largest
open-air seabird aviary in the Northwest, four indoor galleries,
a theater devoted to whales, gift shop, bookstore and cafe.
The Oregon Coast Aquarium is a must! Experience personal
encounters with sea life found on, under and over the ocean
close to our Oregon shores. Come see the exciting new changing
displays the Aquarium presents.
NEWPORT'S HISTORIC BAY FRONT
Where shopping is an experience in our many small and unique
shops. You can find treasures here that you can't find anywhere
else.
CHARTER BOAT FISHING
Newport is known for charter fishing all year `round. With
five charter services, you can just pick the time you want to
go fishing, and go!
MARINER SQUARE
Located on Newport's Bay Front, where you can see Ripley's Believe
It Or Not!, The Wax Works, a living museum, and the Undersea Gardens
(a floating glass boat).
YAQUINA HEAD LIGHTHOUSE
This is one of many lighthouses on the Oregon Coast, located
just three miles north of downtown Newport. The Yaquina
Head Lighthouse offers a spectacular view of the coastline.
WILDLIFE REFUGE
More than 120 species of seabirds have been spotted along the
coast of Newport. Springtime brings hundreds of thousands
of seabirds to the coast for nesting.
MARK HATFIELD MARINE SCIENCE CENTER
Public museum/aquarium with windows to the ocean world, they
offer hands-on marine animal pools for the children and many wonderful
films on sea life.
WHALE WATCHING
One of the best places to whale watch just happens to be north
of Yaquina Bay and south of Yaquina Head Lighthouse. A natural
reef runs across this area and whales like to feed nearby.
OUTSIDE FUN
Beach combing, clam digging, crabbing, kite flying, windsurfing,
offshore diving, spear fishing, tidepools, rock/agate hunting,
bicycling, hiking, picnicking.
GOLF COURSES
Golf courses and also a country club are located just a few miles
from Newport.
YAQUINA BAY LIGHTHOUSE AND STATE
PARK
This lighthouse is open in the summer months for tours.
PERFORMING ARTS CENTER
Newport has a new Center for the Performing Arts. They
have major productions, plays for all ages, classes, and workshops.
